Flowserve completes Bowen Basin pipeline

FLOWSERVE Pump Division has completed the 220km water pipeline to supply the Bowen Basin in Queensland and handed it over the State Government.

The pipeline has been built between Burdekin Falls and Moranbah and makes up a single stage of an overall $300m project. The company has worked on all stages of design and construction.

The project is expected to help increase coal production by 60m tons and create about 4000 jobs in the Burdekin region of north Queensland.

The line’s stations use 450 by 400mm TKL ECSD two-stage, horizontal split case pumps, 400 by 500mm TKL SuperTitan single-stage, horizontal split case pumps and 1100kW motors which deliver 645L at a head of 123m.

Queensland Premier Anna Bligh says the pipeline will guarantee the region’s water supplies and increase it by 1.5ML per day.
