QUEENSLAND Premier Anna Bligh has proposed two new liquefied natural gas (LNG) plants and a 70km gas pipeline for Gladstone, during a visit to the town ahead of the state’s impending election.

Premier Bligh says the construction of the two LNG plants will begin in 2010 and will create around 6000 construction jobs.

According to the Premier, the government will also buy land for a 70km gas pipeline between Callide and the Gladstone LNG plants.

Premier Bligh says LNG is an important industry for the central Queensland region. It has the potential to become a $40b export industry.
