Nexus receives large Browse Basin permit

NEXUS Energy has been awarded an extensive exploration permit in the offshore Browse Basin, Western Australia by the state’s government.

The minerals explorer says the area’s oil and gas potential has been confirmed by the non-commercial Gwydion oil field in the northern part of the permit. This field was successfully drilled by BHP Billiton in 1995.

The company plans to examine an area south of the Gwydion field.

According to the explorer, the first three years of the testing will involve geotechnical studies as well as an exploration well in the second year.

The permit is situated to the south of the company’s Echuca Shoals project.
